Fair play Kanye West

I Like my rap old school ( Run DMC ) but a story from MTV has made me a very big fan of Mr. Kanye West.from MTV. com ( http://www. mtv. com/news/articles/1591258/20080721/west_kanye. jhtml )

'...an upcoming MTV News special, "Choose or Lose & Kanye West Present: Homecoming," the Chicago MC and MTV's Sway Calloway give returning veterans the surprise of their lives during home visits where they listen to the soldiers' stories and express gratitude for their service. The one-hour special, which airs July 28 at 10 p.m. ET, will feature West and Calloway dropping in unexpectedly at the homes of some Iraq war veterans and seeing firsthand the often difficult and painful challenges the young vets face after returning home.West didn't just listen, though. On behalf of MTV and the Dr. Donda West Foundation — named in honor of the rapper's late mother — Sway and West gave each veteran a life-changing gift, from paying off their debts to taking care of their rent or tuition. ....'

So Fair Play Mr. West. Good on ya! He seems to know that the rap game is just that, a game. And he gave back to the brave folks of the U.S. military. He has a big fan here for life.

Congrats John McCain

Arizona Sen. John McCain, tonight won the Republican nomination to be President. In his talk at his HQ he said he will have a positive campaign. He also called folks 'my friends'. I hope that comes to pass. Mudslinging turns folks off from politics. Also the Country has a lot of work to do. Who ever is President needs to bring the country, both Red and Blue States together
So again Congrats John McCain.

Fair play Randy Moss

Record setting wide receiver for the New England Patriots resigned with the team. He signed for less money, reported to be one million dollars LESS than what the Eagles would have gave him. Randy said playing with Quarterback Tom Brady was the reason. So Randy really did put his money were his mouth is. Fair play to him. New England fans will cheer him all the more this year.

Jeff Healey March 25, 1966 – March 2, 2008

Following a lengthy struggle with cancer, Jeff Healey, Canadian jazz blues and rock guitarists died Sunday March 2 in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Toronto. He was 41, and leaves his wife, Cristie, daughter Rachel (13) and son Derek (three), as well as his father and step-mother, Bud and Rose Healey, and sisters Laura and Linda.Funeral and memorial arrangements are pending.Robbed of his sight as a baby due to a rare form of cancer, retino blastoma, and he started to play guitar when he was three.
Healey and the band were featured in a movie, Road House which was inspired when its creator saw Healey playing. With the resulting stardom, they soon signed with Arista Records and in 1988 released See The Light, which included the hit single "Angel Eyes". The song "Hideaway" was nominated for the "Best Instrumental" Grammy Award, and in 1990 the band won the "Entertainer of the Year" Juno Award. Other hits have included "How Long Can a Man Be Strong" and a cover of The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
In his later years, he released three CDs from his true passion, traditional American jazz from the 1920s and 1930s. He was an avid record collector and amassed a collection of well over 25,000 78 rpm records. For many years Healey played his music-at Healey's on Bathurst Street in Toronto, where he played with a rock band on Thursday nights, and with his jazz group, Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards, on Saturday afternoons. The club moved to a bigger location at 56 Blue Jays Way and it was named Jeff Healey's Roadhouse. Though he had lent his name and often played there, Jeff Healey did not own or manage the bar.
Though known primarily as a guitarist, Healey also played trumpet and clarinet during live performances.
Healey had, from time to time, hosted a CBC Radio program entitled My Kind of Jazz, in which he played records from his vast vintage jazz collection. He hosted a program of the same name on Toronto station CJRT-FM, also known as JAZZ.FM91.
He had also been touring with a group called the Jazz Wizards, playing American jazz from the 1920s, 1930s and early 1940s.
They had been planning to perform a series of shows in Britain, Germany and Holland in April 2008. His death came a month before the release of his new album, Mess of Blues, which will be his first rock album in eight years.
I always loved how he played music. In Roadhouse there is a part where bar patrons throw bottle and Jeff ducked which I found funny some how. Thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. May he be in Heaven playing at the right hand of G-d. May he rest in peace.

Number 56 in your programs but a close number 1 in your hearts ( if your a Pats fan), New England linebacker Andre Tippett was elected into the Football Hall of Fame today. This come less than 24 hours until the team he played for and still works for, goes for another Super Bowl win.

(from http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-halloffame&prov=ap&type=lgns)

Vote early, vote often, vote again.

That does not mean the same as it did in the past. Now it means: when the polls open vote! Vote in EVERY election! Vote again in the next election! Folks fought and died to give us the right and the very least we can do is drop the ring dings, put down the remote and go out to vote.
For the good folk of Florida there is still time to get out and vote. Your country thanks you.

Congrats!

Pop music couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have confirmed reports that they are expecting a child. This will be the second child for the couple. So sending happy vibes to Gwen, Gavin and Kingston, (the couples first child). I hope the press will give them the space they need.

Rest in Peace Soldier ( 2nd Lt. Mark J. Daily )

My friends, Lt. Mark Daily was a Soldier who was ROTC Soldier of the year '05. He was killed on monday by an IED. In his last email to his family he wrote:

All is well," he wrote. "More war stories than I can fit in this e-mail. Having the time of my life!"

From his myspace page on why he joined:

"If you think the only way a person could bring themselves to volunteer for this war is through sheer desperation or blind obedience, then consider me the exception," he wrote.

"Don't forget that human beings have a responsibility to one another and that Americans will always have a responsibility to the oppressed," he added. "Don't overlook the obvious reasons to disagree with the war, but don't cheapen the moral aspects either."

He said his heroes were immigrants who risk their lives to achieve better ones.

He wrote that those who still don't get why he volunteered to go to Iraq should at least wish him good luck.
Thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, and his whole family and friends. May he rest in peace.

What was the Hall of Fame thinking?

My friends, Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. both got ito the Baseball Hall of fame in the first time they could. Ripken appeared on 98.53 percent of ballots to finish with the third-highest percentage behind Tom Seaver (98.84) and Nolan Ryan (98.79). Gwynn received 97.61 percent, the seventh-highest ever, also trailing Ty Cobb, George Brett and Hank Aaron. You need 75 % to get in. My friends the question I ponder now is this :
If Cal Ripken can't get 100 percent who can? Another question to ponder two ballots were blank, how can you not vote those guys in? Is it a first time thing? That is just a silly reason.
On another more local note Jim Ed Rice fell short again. Here is a guy I used to pretend I was when I was in t-ball. So I have a soft spot for Mr. Jim Ed. The people in the know say that he may have a good chance next year. We'll keep hope alive 'til then.
