Happy New Year / Halloween

Samhain (Scots Gaelic: Samhuinn) literally means “summer's end.” In Scotland and Ireland, Halloween is known as OĆche Shamhna or "the eve before Samhain". Samhain marks one of the two great doorways of the Celtic year, for the Celts divided the year into two seasons:the light and the dark, at Beltane on May 1st and Samhain on November 1st. The Celts believed that Samhain started the new year. To all our our Druid / Wiccan friends, I wish you and yours a happy new year. Athbhliain faoi mhaise dhuit! (A prosperous new year to you!)
Blessed Be.
(for more information on Samhain click here: )
For the little kiddie have fun tonight, and get loads of candy. but be safe.

Mass. is not ready for crippled voters

When it comes to voting in Mass. My friends, cripples seem to be in the back of an inaccessible bus. 28 out of 351 cities and towns will have crippled voting booths. That works out to be 440 out of 1700 polling places. So Lowell, Boston, Springfield, places with a lot of cripples will be hard pressed to meet the need. Now I wont be like some folks bring up the "c" word, you know conspiracy. I don't think because there is a republican in office and cripples tend to vote democrat, the folks now in office did not get machines. I think the foot dragging had more to do with the lack of cash flow for this issue. I will NOT be snide and say " oh, us cripples should be glad to be alive and stop complaining". Not going to do it (sound like Bush I, when I do that).
I will say that after over TEN YEARS with the A.D.A those in power should try to get the job done for '08.

Poster Girl video, The anti Dixie Chicks

Saw this on Blackfive, this is Australian artist, Beccy Cole who made this song/video after her support of the Australian troops was called into question by anti-war folks. These anti-war folks said they wouldn't support her because of her stand. Kind of like the Dixie chicks.
(digger is a term for Aussie troops, may God bless them)

Red Auerbach 1917-- 2006

Red bled green. Even if he was born in New York, Red bled Boston Celtic green. He was Coach/G.M./President of a team that won 16 championships. He was GM when he hired Mr. Bill Russell, who became the FIRST black coach in sports. His Celtics, brought forth the first basketball team of 5 black starters. Known for his trademark cigar, which he would light at a win Mr Auerbach was Celtic Pride. My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends. May Red be high above courtside with the ultimate ref.

It's ALIVE....

My friends, Saturday on channel 56 at 12:00 noon is CREATURE DOUBLE FEATURE. Children of the night, two Monster movies just before Halloween. Plus a crypt keeper like person doing the intros. Doesn't get better than that.
If you live in or around the Boston area, & you love monster movies plus want to get into the Halloween mood. Make an appointment to watch monster movie goodness.

Jeans on TV

My friends call me old fashioned, but if I was on national TV I'd dress up. Last night on the World Series on Fox, Ozzie Smiths son sang the National Anthem in JEANS. The former American Idol, who sang great by they way, should have worn better attire. He wore a World Series jacket, ok plug where you are fine. But jeans? I was taught when you sing the Anthem you show respect, and that includes how you carry yourself. To sing the anthem on TV? Again, I'd think that would call for people to dress up. Maybe I am just old fashioned....

Paul Sullivan is THE MAN!

Paul Sullivan

Every once in a while, folks do things that make you feel really good and really bad at the same time. Paul Sullivan is one of those folks. As posted earlier, Mr. Sullivan, (a brother in the struggle) had a THIRD brain surgery to remove a tumor. Now a mere TEN DAYS later he is going back to work on his radio show. Mr Sullivan, you are the man! I feel great that Mr. Sullivan is back so soon after his ordeal. But now I feel really bad if I call in sick from a cold, or when I'm doing my show from hospital. But I'll deal with it if good folk like Mr. Sullivan do well.

Mr. Sullivan, I am so glad the operation went well, and we the good folk of Boston and the world get the joy of hearing you again so soon. Please stay well.

Love and Marriage.....

My Friends, the song went Love and Marriage go together...yadda yadda. But not it seems in the good old U. S. Of A. At least not as a majority of US folks. The US Census Bureau in its 2005 American Community Survey said 50.2 percent of households were unmarried. It broke it down more with these interesting but not totally unsurprising numbers from an article from yahoo news:

More than 14 million households were headed by single women, another five million by single men, while 36.7 million belonged to a category described as "nonfamily households," a term that experts said referred primarily to gay or heterosexual couples cohabiting out of formal wedlock.

In addition, there were more than 30 million unmarried men and women living alone, who are not categorized as families, the Census Bureau reported.

By comparison, the number of traditional households with married couples at their core stood at slightly more than 55.2 million, or 49.8 percent of the total.

I wonder what ten years from now the Census will look like?

Ready for American football.....

I'm ready for American football but the Pats in New England have a bye this week...grrrr.
Random note my friends, please check out http://www.superbowlmonday.com/
these great folks have the BRILLIANT Idea to declare Super Bowl Sunday designated as a National holiday. Of course the following Monday will be designated as a day of observation.
the site has the reasons, all which make sense to me. Some facts and points from the site:

-The average number of people attending a Super Bowl party is 17%, over 20 million Americans.

-Two out of five Super Bowl watchers are not even football fans. Even people who will never watch another game all year will tune in to be part of this one national event.

-Super Bowl weekend is the slowest weekend for weddings.

They want to call the Holiday: American Sports Day, National Sports Day, Athletic Day, or even
Lombardi Day ( folk around Boston will want to call it Belichick Day, for in Bill we trust). All good names. My friends please leave in the comments your idea's for the name of the Holiday (please keep it clean) . Also if you can please sign the petition at:

First Post

Hello my friends, This is my first post so let's start things off with a prayer. This prayer is to St. Isidore of Seville, Patron Saint of the Internet ( yes, there is a Patron Saint of the internet).

Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thy image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thy only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, bishop and doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen

This blog is dedicated to my brother in the Army.
